Bonneville High School golf coach Blair Garner will be trading in the blue and gold for green and white.

Garner has been named the head coach of the men’s and women’s golf programs at Southern Virginia University, the institution announced Monday.

SVU, an NCAA Division III school, announced the addition of golf earlier in January, and will have the inaugural season start this upcoming fall under the direction of Garner.

“We are pleased to attract a candidate as accomplished and experienced as Blair Garner to lead the newly created men’s and women’s golf programs,” SVU Athletics Director Jason Lamb said in a release from the University. “Coach Garner brings with him a wealth of knowledge about the game of golf and experience building new golf programs. He has a great network of coaches and players.”

During his 12 years on the coaching staff, the last two as the head coach, Garner helped guide the Lakers to two state championships, five regional championships, and eight top five finishes in the state tournament.

“Coach Garner has a track record of building programs from the ground up and quickly taking those programs to an elite level,” Lamb said in the release. “We are confident that this experience will help him be successful at Southern Virginia University.”
